Isaac is 8!

Isaac turned 8 a few days ago! We had such a fun day - Isaac planned out every minute of it.

This was the plan for his perfect birthday:

Wake-up and play on the iPad.
Eat Lucky Charms for breakfast.
Play more iPad.
Answer birthday phone calls.
Play more iPad.
Go to Build-a-Bear.
Get a pretzel and lemonade at the mall.
Have a Sonic Dad birthday party - see below for more details.
Spend the evening with grandma and grandpa - since it was grandma's birthday, too!
Open presents from family.
Stay up late playing with birthday presents.

His day pretty much went according to his plan! He is such a fun kid, and we're so glad he's a part of our family.

Isaac chose to have a Sonic Dad party. Sonicdad.com is a website that provides building instructions for things like rubber band guns, crossbows, catapults, etc. We used those instructions to help the kids build their own crossbows with arrows and a target. It was super fun, but took a lot longer than expected. Isaac didn't want cake, so we had root beer floats instead.

Here are some pics from the party. Wish I took better pictures, but it was a little crazy, so I'll take what I can get.

1st Day of School!

Today was our first day of 'school'. We had a great time! We read "All By Myself," did an "All About Me" page, took pics, had math and reading lessons, and completed the day with a trip to Chuck E. Cheese. Since we homeschool, I figure we can go to Chuck E. Cheese whenever we want :)! Figuring out what to buy with your tickets is math (and consumer economics), right?

We hope the rest of the year will be as great as the first day!

Frozen @ 6!

If Meili could, she would spend ALL of her time singing Frozen songs, dressing up as Elsa, or drawing Frozen pictures. She has even been known to lure her little brother into playing Anna - picture a three-year old toe-head singing Do You Want to Build a Snowman? to his sister's closed door, with her on the other side telling "Anna" to "go away." So, of course, her one wish for her 6th birthday was to have a Frozen birthday party. Here's how it turned out:

{the crafts: ice princess crowns, bracelets, ice crystal snowflakes}

{snowball toss}

{the ice palace}

 {frozen treats}

{a sing-a-long in the snow}

{the party favors}

{and a special thanks to my friend, Sarah, for taking all of these great pictures!}

Easter Sunday

We started a new tradition this year - cinnamon rolls on Easter Sunday morning.

We took some family pics.

 And had our traditional Easter Basket Hunt.

My camera's battery died after the first picture I took of the hunt. As you can see, we hide picture clues for the kids to find that leads them each to their Easter basket.

What a SURPRISE!

For my 30th birthday, my sweet hubby threw a surprise party for me.
It was the perfect way to welcome me into this new decade of my life.

It was complete with balloons and streamers,

a piñata,

and some of my most dear friends and their families.

Amy's Farm

Yesterday we went on a field trip to a farm and had such a great time! The farm provides an educational tour that teaches about growing a garden, feeding and taking care of animals, and even milking a cow. We felt like real farmers!
